Youth Oasis Celebrates NEW Drop-In Center

Baton Rouge, LA- Youth Oasis plans to open a new Drop-In center next Spring 2022 to expand sources to youth and young adults aged 16-24. The Drop-in Center will provide a place where youth experiencing homelessness or youth at risk of experiencing homelessness can find resources to improve housing stability and connect with caring individuals that can help them navigate care systems. Youth Oasis was ranked the most LGBTQ- friendly housing center in Louisiana and is now creating an avenue for more youth and families quality services.

Youth Oasis is led by Executive Director Tekoah Boatner, whose mission is to provide housing, resources, and advocacy to people in Louisiana. The center will reach a wider population of youth and young adults that perhaps hasn't been serviced before with such transformative care.

The new Drop- In center will be unique to the Baton Rouge area by providing access to immediate services with low barriers and less paperwork for entering care, offers gaming, wellness as well as more direct needs such as laundry services, showers and meals in a youth centered environment. Ms. Jamie Dawson, the Director of the program, states, “The Drop-In Center functions as a true Oasis for those seeking a chill place to be and while they are here, they can get connections to other resources and needs.” The center is a safe space for LGBTQ + communities, especially transgender communities, offering gender affirming placement housing! Many youths of color that experience homelessness are LGBTQ identified, and have experience harmed due to wrong gender placement. The Drop-In Center hopes to change that outcome by providing great housing operation, queer/ trans-friendly living, and quality services.

We believe in community support, and it takes a village to help youth! Donations and funding towards the Drop-In Center will be greatly appreciated. To learn more about the new Drop in center and our services, please visit our website at www.youthoasis.org or email us at Info@youthoasis.org. Our Doors are always open.
