Started by a group of young professionals who wanted to make a difference in our community, K.I.D.S. was founded on the basic principal of Karing Is Doing Something. K.I.D.S. is a nonprofit organization geared to helping and supporting under privileged children and teens in the Greater Baton Rouge area. Many of life’s paths are carved during childhood. Moreover, research has shown that the difference between success and failure in a person’s life can be affected by the presence of positive intervention during childhood. K.I.D.S is committed to the positive intervention needed in children’s lives in hopes to provide a platform for their future. We want to provide the underprivileged children with opportunities to reach their full potential in life. We want to make a difference in children’s lives by increasing their confidence, self-esteem and purpose in life. Every aspect of the K.I.D.S. organization will assist, in one way or another, children; ultimately leading to a better tomorrow for all. K.I.D.S. is a 501(c)(3) organization, meaning that your donations are tax deductible under the full amount as allowed by the IRS.
2016 Red Stick Roux Rally
The Red Stick Roux Rally is a Gumbeaux Cook-off hosted by KIDS to benefit Youth Oasis, a local children’s homeless shelter. The event will consist of an onsite Gumbeaux cooking competition amongst local amateur cooking teams, live music and entertainment and culminate with a “Best Gumbeaux” and “People’s Choice” awarded to the winners . We will be hosting the event on Saturday, February 13 at Galvez Plaza located in downtown Baton Rouge, LA. Admission will be $10 at the door and will include drink specials and all the Gumbeaux you can eat. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. No outside food or beverages will be permitted. All proceeds from this event will be donated to Youth Oasis.

Entry: Entry fee will be $150 for a four (4) person team. Teams can add two (2) additional members for $25 each member. Entry fee will include gift bag, t-shirt for each paying team member, 10×10 cooking space.
Space: Space location is based on application’s received. The area size will be 10 x 10. Teams are encouraged to decorate their area. Teams must furnish ALL their cooking equipment including tents, tables, chairs, butane cookers, water etc. Electricity is NOT available at cook site.
